Tactics for Farming Hydras at Augury?
My 55 monk is having trouble doing this, as everytime I get near them, they nuke me to no end, plz post strats and comments.
EDIT: obviously, if they're nuking me, I can't cast Prot Spirit, then all is lost... EDIT 2: ^^ ... due to knockdown. |

If you can't get a 1/4 second cast off, I can't help you.

My monk don't have anything to counter knock down and I do okay against hydras. I only deal with a manageable size of 3 to 6 hydras at a time, no more to ensure I don't get killed.
Pick a hydra, get close to it so it is outside your aggro circle. Cast Prot. Spirit and Healing Breeze, move in and aggro and wait. Him and his mates will cast fireball or meteor. Just wait and be patience, it doesn't matter if you get knocked down, after casting they will goto you. While you're waiting make sure Prot. Spirit and Healing Breeze never run out, if they do then cast them again. Once they're around you, kick off SoJ. |

meh I don't find it worth the point investment...go with essence bond and balth aura to have plenty of mana then just cast them constantly...I've killed up to 8 hydras like this with no problem...they did cancel my SoJ once but I lived no problem till the next

I personally find the 55-monk overrated, but farming hydras is one thing it's good at. Insofar there's a trick it's to make sure protective spirit never runs out, by recasting it before it starts to blink. Also start with smaller groups of hydras until you get your timing down.

Ok.. PS should be lasting for 30-40 seconds, cast it before you go in, let them use up all their meteors, then your fine (also cast healing breeze before you go in) not hard
